Rip Rap War III: Guts, Gold, Glory
September 13 (3:00 PM) - 15 (10:00), 2019
Barony of Marinus
The year is 1561 and WAR has once again descended upon Riprap Island, a rocky plot of land at the mouth of the River Powhatan. Legend has that it guards the key to the Northwest Passage, a fabled direct line to all the gold and treasures of the Orient, feverishly sought by every explorer since Giovanni Caboto.
After two years of fighting over the possession of our much- coveted island, and two years of having it stolen out from under us, the Baronies of Marinus and Tir-Y-Don have decided to join forces to fight off newly arrived bands of marauders who sail under suspicious flags. Join us in defending our island… or attempt a naval invasion if you dare!
Martial Activities: Armored | Rapier | Target Archery | Thrown Weapons | Youth Combat
There will be an assortment of martial activities bearing war points which will decide the fate of Rip Rap Island. Armored and Rapier combatants will have a variety of melee ship battles. (With a few interesting twists.) There will also be "short shoot" archery on site in addition to youth combat. Battle scenario details and schedules will be posted to the website. For questions or details, contact Marshal-In-Charge, Sir Otto von Schwartzkatz at roberteday1[at]verizon[dot]net.
Arts & Sciences Activities: This being the 3rd annual Rip Rap War, our A&S activities theme is THREE. There will be brewing, fiber arts, and bardic competitions. In addition, we will host a Dead Man's Chest competition wherein each team will be given a "treasure chest" filled with items that must be used to create an object for display. Additional supplies/materials may be incorporated, but all items from the chest must be included. The winning team will receive a prize. Please see website for more details.
